Scanner Risk Evaluation

Read below to understand how we evaluate your website risk of non-compliance with data privacy laws around the globe

As a website owner, it is important to understand the global landscape of data privacy laws and which ones you may be subject to upholding. It is a common misconception that websites are only subject to following the data privacy law of the location of their business when, in reality, websites must follow the various data privacy laws of all of their users.

Clym's scanner tool is a valuable resource for evaluating your current compliance with 40+ global regulations and identifying areas where your website may be at risk. As an example, Clym may identify high risks if your website is missing a cookie consent management tool or a Privacy Policy.

Compliance Score

Your website will be given an overall score out of 10 based on its current compliance with accessibility and privacy laws. The criteria that we measure to calculate your score are:

  • If your website has cookies and scripts
  • If you have a consent management platform (CMP), whether Clym or another service, and it covers that particular jurisdiction
  • If your website has a Privacy Policy
  • If your website has a Cookie Policy

To help improve your compliance score and ensure you adhere to the data privacy regulations, we recommend reviewing each individual item mentioned in your scan report results. Your website's score falls under one of the following categories:

  • If your website receives a score between 0 to 2, it falls under the high-risk category.
  • If your website receives a score between 3 and 4, it falls under the medium to high-risk category, depending on regulation strength.
  • If your website receives a score between 5 and 7, it falls under the medium-risk category.
  • If your website receives a score between 8 and 9, it falls under the low-risk category.
  • If your website receives a score of 10, it falls under the no immediate risk category.

We highly recommend that you examine your scan report results closely and take any necessary actions to improve your score. This will facilitate your website's compliance with various data privacy regulations and avoid any potential risks of non-compliance.

It is important to note that we are not assessing which regulations you need to comply with, but rather providing a tool to check your compliance with various regulations.
