How to restrict VPN access to your website
Steps to take to prevent users who are using a VPN from accessing your website
In an evolving regulatory landscape, businesses must stay vigilant in navigating international regulatory frameworks that vary widely by region. This complexity emphasizes the need for robust VPN access control measures to ensure compliance with these mandates, as well as protect your business from potential legal repercussions.
By utilizing Clym's widget for VPN access control, businesses can effectively manage user access based on geographic locations and prevent unauthorized circumvention through VPNs. This proactive approach not only supports compliance efforts but also safeguards your website from unwarranted visitors.
Please note: Based on the industry that your business operates in, there may be Sanctions and other restrictions that are automatically configured based on your Company Data. Before manually configuring sanctions or other restrictions, please first edit your Company Data.
Adding a VPN rule is an easy 3-step process:
1. Sign in to your Clym Control Center account
You should have received a magic link in your initial onboarding email. Please click Sign in from the email to get started. Alternatively, navigate to Clym's home page and click Sign in in the upper right-hand corner.

2. Access the Manage tab
From the left side menu, access the Manage tab. Click to expand the Property settings section and select Jurisdictions. Click the pencil icon next to the jurisdiction that you would like to restrict VPN access from.

From the window that opens, expand the Sanctions and other restrictions section and click Add rule.

3. Create a new rule
To create a rule for all users from this jurisdiction, click into Sanctions and other restrictions.

Toggle on Block access through VPN and click Save.

In the Type drop-down, select Sanctions and other restrictions. Toggle on Block access through VPN from this jurisdiction. Click Submit.
