How to reset consents for your website
Steps to take to reset your website's consent receipts
Managing user consent effectively is a critical part of website compliance, and the Clym Control Center offers robust tools to help organizations stay aligned with evolving privacy requirements. Clym’s consent management capabilities support a wide range of consent types, from cookie consent for tracking technologies to specialized authorizations like wiretapping and Video Privacy Protection Act (VPPA) consent.
Resetting consent records within your Control Center account ensures that outdated or incorrect consent entries don’t persist, helping maintain accurate documentation and compliance readiness. This article will guide you step-by-step through the process of resetting your company’s cookie, wiretapping, and VPPA consent records and explain common business reasons you might need to perform these resets in the first place.
Companies may want to reset consent data for multiple reasons. For example, after updating consent workflows, correcting misconfigured settings, aligning with new regulatory interpretations, or simply clearing test data accumulated during implementation. Cookie consent records track visitor decisions around tracking technologies and privacy preferences, ensuring that your analytics and advertising tools respect user choice. Wiretapping consent records document explicit authorizations for recorded communications, which are essential when interactions involve support systems or conversational interfaces. VPPA consent records govern permissions around embedded video content and the collection of viewing data, helping you comply with video-specific privacy protections. Resetting these records in the Control Center helps streamline your compliance posture, supports accurate auditing and reporting, and ensures that your consent landscape reflects your current operational and regulatory needs.
Resetting your consents is an easy 3-step process:
1. Sign in to your Clym Control Center account
You should have received a magic link in your initial onboarding email. Please click Sign in from the email to get started. Alternatively, navigate to Clym's home page and click Sign in in the upper right-hand corner.

2. Access the Monitor tab
First, ensure that only one domain is selected. If your account has multiple properties, click All properties and select the domain for which you want to reset consents.

Click the Monitor tab. Click Consents to expand the menu.

3. Reset your consents
Depending on the type of records you would like to reset, click into Cookies, Wiretapping, or VPPA. In the top right corner, click the Clock icon to Reset consent times.

In the window that opens, Confirm that you would like to reset your consent records. This is an irreversible action. Once deleted, consents can no longer be recovered. Before you perform this action, please make sure these are no longer necessary for your company's compliance audits.
