June 10, 2025 - Changes to the Initial notification

To enhance the mobile user experience and present a more compact version of the Clym Widget, we’re introducing changes to the default Initial notification settings, effective June 10, 2025.

What is the Initial notification?

The Initial notification is the first element of the Clym Widget your website visitors see when they land on your site. In regions where cookies and script consent are required, the widget currently defaults to displaying the "Full Widget" layout.

What will change?

To streamline the presentation:

  • The default Initial notification will change from “Full Widget” to “Discrete” in locations where granular consent for cookies and scripts is required.

  • In regions where displaying categories is not required, the widget will default to the “Bottom” layout.

These changes aim to create a more user-friendly and mobile-optimized experience while maintaining compliance.

These updates affect only the Initial notification, which means the way your widget is displayed for the first time when a user accesses the website. All other widget layouts and functionalities remain unchanged. When a user clicks on the Initial notification, the specific widget type for the jurisdiction from where the user accesses the page will be displayed. Website visitors will still be able to do the following actions on the new Initial notifications settings:

  • Click “Settings” to open the widget,

  • Manage their consent preferences,

  • Submit data subject requests (if this is enabled at account level),

  • Review your company information and Data Protection Officer (DPO) details (if this is enabled at account level).

Here you can read more about the steps required in order to change the widget type per jurisdiction to a Discrete, Full Widget, Centered, Bottom, Top, IaB/TCF Europe 2.2, HIPAA or Do Not Display.

If you have customized your widget layout and no longer have our default Clym settings, your preferences will not be affected.
