Steps to take to set up an Age Gating requirement for your website
Depending on the industry of your company and certain regulations that you may be subject to, you may want to make sure that your customers meet a certain age requirement to access your website. Clym's Age Gating solution provides a straightforward way to restrict access to your content based on users' ages. By implementing this feature, you can create a safer online environment, particularly for industries where age restrictions are crucial, such as alcohol, gaming, and adult content. This article will guide you through setting up the Age Gating solution, allowing you to integrate age verification protocols into your website seamlessly.
In the Clym Portal, you can configure the age verification settings to require users to input their date of birth or confirm their compliance with age restrictions. Whether you're looking to foster a responsible online community or to follow certain regulations that your industry is subject to, following the steps outlined in this guide will help you successfully implement the Age Gating solution and enhance your site's integrity.
Please note: Based on the industry that your business operates in, there may be Age Gating settings that are automatically configured based on your Company Data. Before manually configuring Age Gating settings, please first edit your Company Data.
Adding an Age Gating requirement is an easy 3-step process:
1. Sign in to your Clym Portal
You should have received a magic link in your initial onboarding email. Please click Sign in from the email to get started. Alternatively, navigate to Clym's home page and click on Sign in in the upper right-hand corner.
2. Open your Website Settings
From the left side menu, select Website Settings. From here, you will see a list of all your domains, each with its unique settings.
Click the settings wheel next to the domain that you would like to change the default language for. This will open the website settings for that specific domain.
3. Add an Age Gating requirement
From the Website settings menu, select the Geographical and device-based settings drop-down arrow to expand the options. Click the three dots next to the jurisdiction where you would like to create a rule. In the pop-up window, you can click into the Age gating section to see any existing rules for this jurisdiction. Click ADD RULE+ to create a new rule.
From the Type drop-down menu, select Age gating. To turn on the Age gating features, toggle on Enable age gating features. In the minimum age (years) field, you can set the minimum age required by website visitors to access your website. In the Age confirmation type field, you can choose whether you would like users to provide confirmation that they meet a certain requirement or to provide their specific date of birth for proof. In the Consent validity (days), you can set the duration for which the user's age confirmation remains valid before the user is prompted again. If you would like to set Conditional display where users only see the widget on certain pages, you can choose to load or not load the widget on specific pages. Lastly, you have the option to set a Redirect URL, which will send the website visitor to a specific page if they do not meet the age requirement to view your website. Click Submit.
