Footer links for "Privacy Center" and "Do not sell or share my personal information"

In this article, we will cover the following:

What are footer links?

What do Clym footer links look like?

Where can I find them?

Where do I need to place them on my website?

Clym provides you with a mechanism to generate custom footer links that your website visitors can use as a shortcut to open your Clym widget or Governance portal. For example, a user who is visiting your website from a location where there is no data privacy regulation may not see the widget when first accessing your website. To create short links and easy access to your Clym widget for your users, Clym allows you to generate footer links for the widget or Governance portal that can open to any section of these features. Two common footer links are:

  • Privacy Center. This allows users from jurisdictions that do not require prior consent to access Clym's widget.
  • Do not sell or share my personal information. This link allows customers from California to quickly submit a "Do not sell or share my personal information" data subject request.

Having the 'Do not sell or share my personal information' footer link on your website is a legal requirement as long as you are serving customers from California, United States of America.

The footer links will have the following formats. Please note that you will need to copy and paste each code one at a time and place each one in your website's footer.

The link for the "Privacy Center"

<a href="#" onclick="Clym.showWidget('', '', event);">Privacy Center</a>

The link for "Do not sell or share my personal information"

<a href="#"
onclick="Clym.showWidget('/requests/new/do_not_sell_my_information', '', event);
">Do not sell or share my personal information</a>

Please note that the codes above are sample codes, and should not be used on your website. You can generate your own footer link embed codes directly within your Clym Control Center account.

Where can I find them?

Footer link embed codes for your website can be generated within your Clym Control Center account. You can fully customize the display text of the links, whether they open the widget or the Governance portal, and which section of these solutions is opened. Where do I need to place them?

As the name suggests, these footer links will most likely appear in your website's footer. While there's no strong requirement to have them there, it is considered a best practice (as you need to make them easily accessible to your customers during their entire navigation experience around your website). For detailed instructions on how to add footer links to your website based on your website-building platform, please review our installation process overview to select the instructions for your platform.
